Call to Order

 

Mayor Rochefort called the meeting to order.  Mayor advised that this was the first official Council meeting being held in the new Council Chambers.  Council will be having the Official Opening of the New Municipal Office on Friday, March 24th, 2023.

Deputy Mayor Rooyakkers brought up the matter of the new Parks and Recreation vehicle pertaining to the RFP process.

Chair's Comments:

 

Mayor Rochefort advised that Deputy Mayor Rooyakkers attended the Economic Development Conference in Toronto.  The Conference aimed at Child Care.  Councillor Kelly was congratulated on the re-election to the FONOM Board of Directors.  Council attended the ROMA Conference in January and met with the Assistant Deputy Minister of Education.

    THAT the Council for the Municipality of East Ferris hereby approves the following:

    1.  THAT Council approves the form of draft by-law and franchise agreement attached hereto and authorizes the submission thereof to the Ontario Energy Board for approval pursuant to the provisions of Section 9 of the Municipal Franchises Act.

    2.  THAT Council requests that the Ontario Energy Board make an Order declaring and directing that the assent of the municipal electors to the attached draft by-law and franchise agreement pertaining to the Corporation of the Municipality of East Ferris is not necessary pursuant to the provisions of Section 9(4) of the Municipal Franchises Act.
