Mayor Rochefort called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Business Arising from the Minutes

 

Councillor Champagne advised that he was still waiting on the information and the maps from the Algonquins.  Once received he will be bringing forward to Council.  

CAO gave an update regarding new position - Director of Community Services.  Greg Kirton has been promoted to this position.  Greg will be overlooking the By-law Enforcement, Building and Parks and Recreation Department.  Mayor Rochefort, Council Members and CAO congratulated Mr. Kirton on his promotion.

Councillor Kelly advised that a brochure was mailed out to all residents in the municipality highlighting the placing of waste outside on collection day.

Councillor Kelly advised that the Fire Department has received a new retired ambulance and is now part of a new emergency first response vehicle.

Councillor Champagne spoke in regards to the snow sculpture on Family Day Weekend.  Registration deadline is February 18th, 2022.  Advertised on Social Media and Municipal Website.

    WHEREAS the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee recommended to Council to approve the request from the Nosbonsing Curling Club to extend the curling season for this year only to the end of April 2022;

    BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that Council approves of this recommendation.

    BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that Council approves of this recommendation.

Director of Community Services, Greg Kirton gave a demonstration to Council regarding the functions of the GIS.  Mr. Kirton advised that the GIS will be available for public use within a week or two.

Council discussed definitions of the wording in the By-law.  Council advised that they would like to have public input regarding the proposed amendments to the By-law.  Director of Community Services advised Council that he will work on a public consultation through survey and would have a report coming back to Council for the March 8th Council meeting.

    WHEREAS the Council for the Municipality of East Ferris passed By-law No. 2021-60, a new Comprehensive Zoning By-law for the Municipality of East Ferris on January 11, 2022;

    AND WHEREAS By-law No. 2021-60 came into force and effect on February 4, 2022;

    AND WHEREAS section 34.(10.0.0.1)  and section 45(1.3) of the Planning Act prevents an application for a Zoning By-law amendment or a Minor Variance to be made within 2 years of the date of passing of a new Comprehensive Zoning By-law;

    BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that Council for the Municipality of East Ferris deems it desirable to allow applications to be made with regards to amendments to Zoning By-law No. 2021-60 in accordance with section 34 (10.0.0.2) and Minor Variances to Zoning By-law No. 2021-60 in accordance with section 45(1.4) of the Planning Act prior to the 2 years of date of passing of the new Comprehensive Zoning By-law No. 2021-60.

    WHEREAS the East Ferris Municipal Tradeshow will be held on Saturday, May 28th, 2022 at the East Ferris Community Centre;

    AND WHEREAS Karen Jones Consulting Inc. has led the organization of the Tradeshow for all past iterations and that Council deem it appropriate to continue to work with Karen Jones Consulting Inc. for the 2022 Tradeshow based on the relatively compressed timelines and their past experience running the event;

    BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that Council for the Municipality of East Ferris engage the services of Karen Jones Consulting Inc. to organize and operate the 2022 East Ferris Tradeshow for the same rate charged as the 2019 Tradeshow.
