Call to Order

Mayor Rochefort called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Mayor Rochefort advised that the Municipality will be having the Grand Opening of the New Municipal Office on Friday, March 24th, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

  WHEREAS Council has reviewed Report No. CAO-2023-02;

  AND WHEREAS Council wish to go with Option #2 of Report No. CAO-2023-02;

  BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT Council Remuneration be changed effective January 1^st, 2023 to the following amounts: 

  • Mayor - $2300.00 per month
  • Deputy Mayor - $1,419.17 per month
  • Council Members - $1,379.17 per month

  AND FURTHER THAT the current per diem and meal allowance rates remain the same.

  WHEREAS Council for the Municipality of East Ferris deems it expedient to pass three readings of the following By-law at this session; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT a By-law to amend By-law No. 2019-60 as amended (Teresa and Kevin Gilchrist), BE READ a first, second and third time, passed and numbered 2023-12;

  And THAT said By-law be signed by the Mayor and Clerk and sealed with the Seal of the Corporation.

Approval of Accounts Payable

Councillor Champagne did not vote on the motion to approve the Accounts Payable.  Councillor Champagne advised that he would like to see the cheque register prior to voting on the motion.  Council agreed that the Accounts Payable be circulated at the meeting for Council to review prior to voting on the Accounts Payable motion.

  THAT Council approve the general accounts for the Municipality of East Ferris as indicated in the cheque register(s) dated March 14th, 2023 in the amount of $528,420.86.

16.

Other Business

Mayor Rochefort made a report to Council regarding École St Thomas D'Aquin.  She advised that the school is at capacity.  Mayor Rochefort will be attending a meeting with the CSCFN on March 22nd, 2023.  Mayor Rochefort will report to Council at the next Council meeting.

17.

In Camera 

Council proceeded to in-Camera session under Section 239(2)(b) and (c) pertaining to municipal property on Eglington Road and the Quarry.

  • Personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees.
