Mayor Rochefort called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Chair's Comments:
 

Mayor Rochefort welcomed all in attendance.  Mayor Rochefort advised that there was a Special Meeting of Council prior to the Regular Meeting and the Strategic Plan 2019-2022; Actions, Implementation and Measurement was approved.

Dawn Clark from the Nugget met with the CAO and the Manager of Planning and Economic Development last week to do the Municipality of East Ferris Economic Outlook.

Councillor Kelly and CAO, Jason Trottier attended a Press Conference at Cassellholme where Provincial Announcement was made for the new Cassellholme.

The Knights of Columbus gave the LEAD (Library Evolution and Development) Team a donation of $5,000.00.  The LEAD Team fundraise for the enhancement for the Library.

Preparation for the Ribfest are ongoing.  Ribfest is to be held on June 30th, 2019 at the Corbeil Park Hall.  On Canada Day, the Municipality will be unveiling the Voyageur Cycling Route and Kiosk at Big Moose Park.  Starting at 5:00 p.m. on Canada Day there will be a BBQ at the Corbeil Park Hall, a Magician and Reptile show.  The LEAD team will be hosting a Movie Night and then the evening will carry on to the Municipal Fire Works to be set off by the East Ferris Volunteer Fire Department at dusk.

    WHEREAS Council for the Municipality of East Ferris deems it expedient to pass three readings of the following By-law at this session; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT a By-law to close and convey a Part of the Original Shore Road Allowance, described as Part of the Original Shore Road Allowance in front of Broken Lot 12, Concession 15, Part 1 and 2, RP 36R-11647 Township of East Ferris, District of Nipissing, BE READ a first, second and third time, passed and numbered 2019-30;

    And THAT said By-law be signed by the Mayor and Clerk and sealed with the Seal of the Corporation.

    WHEREAS section 5.3 of the Council Procedural By-law No. 2019-03 states that there shall only be one meeting of Council held in the month of July and August;

    BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that Council of the Municipality of East Ferris cancel the regular scheduled meetings of July 23rd and August 27th, 2019;

    AND THAT a Special Meeting of Council be scheduled in accordance with Section 240 of the Municipal Act, as amended at the call of the Chair if required.

    WHEREAS Council acknowledges correspondence received from Ms. Karen Cobb at their regular meeting held on May 14th, 2019 urging Council to discontinue the use of plastic water bottles at all Council and Committee meetings;

    AND WHEREAS Council at that meeting referred this matter to staff for review;

    BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that we discontinue the practice of providing plastic bottled water at Council and Committee meetings and encourage all members of Council and Committees to bring their own re-useable water bottles for meetings.
