Letter of Resignation & Declaration of Vacancy

    WHEREAS the Clerk for the Municipality of East Ferris received a letter of resignation from Mayor, Pauline Rochefort dated May 5th, 2025 vacating her seat under Sections 259 (1) d and 260 (1) of the Municipal Act; and

    WHEREAS as Section 262(1) of the Act prescribes for the declaring of vacancies of office; and

    WHEREAS Council must declare the seat of the Mayor as vacant prior to beginning the process of filling the vacancy;

    NOW THEREFORE be it resolved that the Municipality of East Ferris acknowledges the letter of resignation submitted by Pauline Rochefort and formally declares the Mayor’s seat as vacant.

    WHEREAS Council declared the seat of the Mayor as vacant on May 8th, 2025; and 

    WHEREAS Council is required to fill the vacancy of Mayor as per Section 263(5) of the Municipal Act; 

    NOW THEREFORE be it resolved that the Council Vacancy Policy that establishes the process for filling the seat of the Mayor be adopted as prepared; and

    FURTHER THAT Council resolves to fill the vacancy through Direct Appointment of a Current Member of Council; and 

    FURTHER THAT Council directs the Clerk to proceed accordingly.
