Mayor Rochefort called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

    That the Minutes of the Regular Council Meeting held April 26th, 2022 and the Minutes of the Special Council Meetings held May 12th, 17th and 18th, 2022 be adopted as circulated.

Mayor Rochefort advised Council regarding the Algonquin Land Claim.  The Citizen Group requested to have a meeting.  Meeting will be set up with Mayor, CAO and Council Member appointed to the Group.  Mayor Rochefort will report back to Council.

Mr. Michel Champagne, President of Seniors Villa of East Ferris Inc. made a presentation to Council expressing interest in the municipal surplus land located at the end of Derland Road.

Deputy Mayor advised that the backhoe, loader and truck have arrived.

    WHEREAS no public input was received during the public meeting of the Planning Advisory Committee held May 11th, 2022;

    AND WHEREAS a request has been received by Yves and Melissa Fortin to close and purchase the original shoreline road allowance abutting 705 Hemlock Island;

    AND WHEREAS By-law No. 2015-35 provides policies and procedures for the disposition of Shoreline Road Allowances in the Municipality of East Ferris;

    AND WHEREAS the request would comply with the policies set out in By-law No. 2015-35;

    BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that Council approves of the recommendation from the Planning Advisory Committee Meeting held May 11th, 2022, under Resolution No. 2022-14 and approve the request made by Yves and Melissa Fortin to close and purchase the original shoreline road allowance abutting 705 Hemlock Island and proceed in accordance with applicable regulations, policies and procedures set out in By-law No. 2015-35.

    WHEREAS the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee recommended to Council approval to direct staff to explore the viability of partnering with FISH TV for an episode featuring Lake Nosbonsing and to contact any local groups/camps that may have input;

    BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that Council approves of this recommendation.

    WHEREAS the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee recommended to Council the approval for staff to explore the possibility of hosting the following events this summer such as:

    • Youth dance party
    • Trivia nights (trial basis)
    • Movie nights;

    BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that Council approves of this recommendation.

Tradeshow -  Saturday, May 28th, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Council will be doing a tour of the building on Monday, May 30th, 2022.

Road Safety Week May 17th- May 23rd.  "Safer You  - Safer Me".  Lawn signs were purchased by the Police Services Board for residents to pick up for this important campaign with the aim to making our roads safe for all users.

    THAT Council of the Municipality of East Ferris accepts the recommendation from the Director of Public Works contained in Report No. R-2022-03 and approve the Request for Quotes EF-2022-01 for the supply and application of dust control and road stabilization materials to be awarded to Pollard Hwy Products in the amount of $134,381.23 including HST.

    WHEREAS Council for the Municipality of East Ferris deems it expedient to pass three readings of the following by-law at this session; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT a By-law to set Tax Ratios for the Municipality of East Ferris for the year 2022, BE READ  a first, second and third time, passed and numbered 2022-27;

    AND THAT said by-law be signed by the Mayor and Clerk and sealed with the Seal of the Corporation.

Prior to the adoption of the estimates of all sums required for the year, CAO/Treasurer made a presentation to Council regarding the 2022 Tax Levy and Rates.

    WHEREAS Council for the Municipality of East Ferris deems it expedient to pass three readings of the following By-law at this session; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT a By-law to adopt the estimates of all sums required during the year and to provide adoption of Tax Rates for 2022, BE READ a first, second and third time, passed and numbered 2022-28;

    AND THAT said By-law be signed by the Mayor and Clerk and sealed with the Seal of the Corporation.
