Mayor Rochefort called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone in attendance, as well as the public watching the meeting from livestream.

Deputy Mayor Voyer invited Mayor Rochefort to read a statement on his behalf.  After reading Deputy Mayor Voyer's statement, Mayor Rochefort opened the floor to request Council's support in honoring Deputy Mayor Voyer's request.  Council members supported Deputy Mayor Voyer's request but agreed that the matter would be brought forward to a future meeting. There was no official vote taken on this matter.

Mr. Lance Johnson, owner of Bur Oak Resources made a presentation to Council regarding municipal owned land on Eglinton Road.

    WHEREAS the Police Services Board meets monthly to continue on the progress of the preparation of the Community Safety and Well Being Plan (CSWBP) as legislated by the Police Services Act;

    AND WHEREAS the committee is in need to reach out to a consultant to assist in the continuation of the plan;

    AND WHEREAS the Police Services Board has received a 2-step quote from Mr. Garry Fay where the first step is for the assistance of the plan in the amount of $3,000;

    NOW THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that Council approves the PSB  to engage the services of Mr. Garry Fay  to assist with the plan in using the funds of their 2020 Operating Budget.

    WHEREAS Crime Stoppers, an internationally recognized program, is a partnership of the public, the police and the media providing citizens with a proactive program to anonymously assist our police partners in the solving of crime, contributing to an improved quality of life in our communities; 

    AND WHEREAS since inception, anonymous calls to Near North Crime Stoppers have assisted the Police and other investigative agencies in making 1,715 arrests, recovering stolen property valued at over $4 million and seizing almost $52 million in illegal drugs;

    NOW THEREFORE Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of East Ferris hereby authorizes the declaration of the month of January 2021 as Crime Stoppers Month in the Municipality of East Ferris.

    THAT Council approve the general accounts for the Municipality of East Ferris as indicated in the cheque register(s) dated November 24th, 2020 in the amount of $236,421.37.

    WHEREAS Council for the Municipality of East Ferris deems it expedient to pass three readings of the following by-law at this session; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT a By-law to confirm the proceedings of Council from November 10th, 2020 to November 24th, 2020, BE READ  a first, second and third time, passed and numbered 2020-46;

    AND THAT said by-law be signed by the Mayor and Clerk and sealed with the Seal of the Corporation.
