Mayor Rochefort called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Mayor Rochefort thanked Council for attending last week 2 events scheduled for Friday, March 18th, 2022:

  • Raising of the Ukraine Flag
  • Receiving of funds for the Medical Centre

Mayor Rochefort also advised that she participated in an event where the Provincial Government announced their strategy for Long Term Care relating to staffing.

Along with the Director of Community Services, Council reviewed the report and the comments regarding Short Term Rentals.  It was advised that a draft by-law will be prepared and be available for comments from April 1st to 15th and will be brought to Council at the April 26th, 2022 Council Meeting for comments.

    THAT Council of the Municipality of East Ferris accepts the recommendation from the Municipal Engineer contained in Report No. R-2022-02 and that Request for Quotation EF 2022-01 for the preparation of a Road Needs Study be awarded to Golder Associates Ltd. in the amount of $35,855.00 plus HST. provided that the Municipality of Powassan, and Township of Chisholm also accept Golder’s quote;

    AND THAT the cost be equally split between the Municipality of Powassan, the Municipality of East Ferris, and the Township of Chisholm;

    AND THAT additional services, within the project scope, may be provided based on individual municipal needs.

Other Business
 

Council will be returning to in-person meetings on April 26th, 2022.  The meeting will be available on the You Tube Channel for livestream for the public.  Council will discussed at this meeting when the public will be able to attend Council meeting in person.

Council passed a resolution to go to in-camera session at 7:39 p.m. to deal with matter of an identifiable individual under Section 239(2) of the Municipal Act.  

At the hour of 8:00 p.m. Deputy Mayor Trahan advised that he had to leave the meeting.  He excused himself from the meeting.
