Call to Order

Mayor Rochefort called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone in attendance, as well as the public watching the meeting from livestream.

Chair's Comments:

Mayor Rochefort advised that Council just marked their 2nd year anniversary.  Council Inaugural Meeting was held on December 11th, 2018.  To celebrate, Mayor Rochefort presented a slide presentation of photos of the Inaugural Meeting.

  THAT Council of the Municipality of East Ferris accepts the recommendation from the Manager of Planning and Economic Development contained in Report No. Plan-2020-08 and that the Manager of Planning and Economic Development initiate the required planning processes to establish the desired commercial and industrial uses on our municipally owned land;

  AND FURTHER that Municipal staff work with Lance and Alexandra Johnson to determine the land needs of Bur Oak Resources leading to an application to purchase municipal lands made by the Johnson's.

Council supported the letters received.  It was advised that due to COVID-19 and restrictions on public gatherings that the municipality would try to organize to encourage dialogue between the residents and the MNRF through a virtual meeting.

Resolution: 2019 Council Statement of Remuneration

  WHEREAS Section 284 of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O., c.25, as amended, requires that the Treasurer of a Municipality shall in each year on or before March 31^st  provide to the Council of the municipality an itemized statement on remuneration and expenses paid in the previous year;

  BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that Council for the Municipality of East Ferris accepts the 2019 Statement of Remuneration and Expenses itemized for each Member of Council and Member of Local Boards and Committees, as submitted.

  THAT Council approve the general accounts for the Municipality of East Ferris as indicated in the cheque register(s) dated December 8th, 2020 in the amount of $383,741.94.

  WHEREAS Council for the Municipality of East Ferris deems it expedient to pass three readings of the following by-law at this session; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT a By-law to confirm the proceedings of Council from November 24th, 2020 to December 8th, 2020, BE READ  a first, second and third time, passed and numbered 2020-47;

  AND THAT said by-law be signed by the Mayor and Clerk and sealed with the Seal of the Corporation.
